A Message to Athens-Clarke County Firefighters from Jim Daws, President of the Professional Firefighters of Georgia

On  Wednesday, May 7th, Georgia's IAFF locals will gather in beautiful downtown
Athens for our annual state convention.  I'm writing to invite ALL the  members of Athens-Clarke Local 2795 to attend our opening session to hear from Governor Nathan Deal, Democratic candidate for governor Senator Jason Carter, Athens-Clark Mayor Nancy Denson and others.

These candidates will be speaking on matters of great importance to Georgia's firefighters and it's critical that we have a good turnout.  Please mark you calendars and join us on Wednesday, May 7th at 1pm in the Rialto Room at the Hotel Indigo in downtown Athens.

The opening session will be followed by an free hospitality bar in the lounge and a free show from Athens local comedian Marc LaMotte in the Rialto Room.  We look forward to seeing you there.

community awareness

We will be making an effort to always be proactive as a union and seek out ways to contribute and help those who it is our privilege to serve. We have seen on many occasions in the past, how with a group effort, we can make a positive impact on the community in both internal and external ways.

Whether it be in raising money for a non-profit organization, giving fans to the elderly, or keeping an entire ladder company and its crew in our fire stations; we can and have made a difference.

And it is the goal of the union to make sure that the community knows what we are doing. That being said, we will continue to take advantage of opportunities to get to know people of our community and help out where possible. We will maintain a good working relationship with members of the news media, members of our county government, and of course the administration of our fire department.
